Alba Adriatica is a young community, born in 1956 under the will of its population. After some passionated election campaigns  and with a petition approved by 2/3 of the inhabitants, they succeeded to obtain for the district  ( those days called Tortoreto Station) , the nomination of Community.

Alba Adriatica takes its name from an ancient Roman civilization "Alba Fucens" and the aforementioned denomination was officially formilized by the deliberations of the Provinces Councils and by the decree 654 of the President of the Republic.

The small town counted 1200 inhabitants. It offered a comfortable driveability and it was full of shops  ,livestock markets, 5 stores for fruit and vegetable production, small mechanical and miniral water industries, a sawmill and more over,  it could count on its fishing and agriculture.

The council emblem  with the image of the sun rising on the sea represents the name of the locality. Among other emblems with important significance present on the territory it is important to mention the followings: Torrione di Guardia, an ancient tower of the realm of Naples assigned as a look-out post, the Church of Sant' Eufemia and the Villa gentilizie of the Eighteenth Century. Other historical testimonies of the ancient civilizations that came in succession on the territory are Neolithic locations found in the more internal area.

The territory in the  prehistoric period infact was inhabitated by Neolithic populations whose remains (ancient sheds and tombs)are exhibited at the National Museum of Chieti. The Italic period saw the arrival of the Umbrians to whom succeeded the Sabini-Piceni that defined Ascoli as their Capital City.

In the following years Alba Picena remained in any case the most important city in regard of Castrum Truentium ( the territory between Porto d'Ascoli and Martinsicuro) and Castrum Novum ( today called Giulianova). During the invasions of the Goti,  Alba Picena was the headquarter of the winter district of the Cavalry.

After a bloody war the Goti were sent away from the territory and over the successive barbarian invasions the small towns of Alba Picea, Castrum Truentinum and Castrum Novum were razed to the ground.

Alba Adriatica is one of the most important tourist destination of the Adriatic Sea.
