The lake of Campotosto

The basin, an integral part of the Campotosto Nature Reserve, is the largest artificial lake in Abruzzo and second in Europe.

It is a popular tourist destination that intrigues hikers for hiking, walking, windsurfing and biking, and is also the preferred destination for camping enthusiasts who stay there mainly during August.

The area, located in the province of L'Aquila, is included in the Gran Sasso National Park and Monti della Laga and offers various landscapes and climates in every season of the year: coloured and freshness during the warm seasons, windy and frozen in winter.
